Free CHRIS HARRIS WITH A TALK The title of this fascinating talk comes from the title to Chris Harris's book on the subject of Will Kemp, the top banana in The Lord Chamberlain's men. Known locally for his famous pantomime dame at Bath Theatre Royal and the Bristol Old Vic, Chris's fund of hilarious stories are guaranteed to provide a lively lunchtime diversion. £5 (£3) CHRIS HARRIS IN KEMP'S JIG Chris Harris performs in one of the funniest shows around, which tells the true story of one man’s Morris dance of 125 miles from London to Norwich, later recorded in Kemp’s Nine daies wonder. This high-energy one-man show, seen in theatres, on television and in 57 countries worldwide demonstrates Chris Harris’s mastery of clowning, storytelling and comic acting. MEMORIAL THEATRE 7.30pm.

Free COLERIDGE AND THE WORDSWORTHS IN SOMERSET Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William and Dorothy Wordsworth produced some of their finest work in Somerset. Helen Wynter and Susan Date bring their work to life drawing on contemporary letters, reports and comments, quotations from Coleridge and the Wordsworths, and later assessments. A varied programme of readings including: extracts of letters; press reports; Dorothy Wordsworth’s journal; The Rime of the Ancient Mariner; Tintern Abbey; a selection of shorter poems. Recently returned from singing the national anthem
as England’s representative
at the Rugby World Cup, Somerset-born Belinda Evans performs a delightful
collection of songs both poignant and humorous, including works by Britten
and Wolf. Belinda is delighted to be returning to Frome, where she won second
prize in the prestigious Great Elm Vocal Awards. This is her first collaboration
with Frome Festival Musical Director Stephen Marquiss.
This is a rare opportunity to see one
of the most influential bands of the last four decades. Groundhogs are back
together after 30 years with the original line-up of Tony Mc Phee, Pete Cruickshank
and Ken Pustelnik. Hear them play their own highly original mix of psychedelic
blues and rock, with
support from local Hendrix tribute band 9 To The universe.
