Fairs Association brings its Book Fair to Frome. More than 20 dealers
offering a wide range of books from general reading to collectors’ items.
Snacks and refreshments are on offer, seating provided, so come along and
spend time with us browsing in a relaxed atmosphere. ASSEMBLY ROOMS 10.30am-4pm.

£9 Under 18: £5 (to include coffee) HARMONY SINGING FOR GIRLS Build your confidence in singing harmony in this relaxed and supportive group. With exercises to strengthen vocal technique and understanding of harmony, we will sing Gospel, African and popular songs.For ages 11-18 and led by Joanna Harvey of Frock Idols (see Songwriting for Girls). NUNNEY JAZZ CAFE PRESENTS LE GRAND BAL MUSETTE Un bal musette au son de l’accordéon . . . lunch (vegetarian) with music and other entertainments, followed by waltzing for adults and kids - free tuition provided! Lunch and dancing both optional but we hope you will take part. The new house band - Karen Street (accordion), Mike Mower (sax/flute), Mike Evans (violin), Emma Harris (vocals), plus rhythm - will play re-invented musette classics and offbeat original material. £5 Tickets on the door only (lunch extra) SONGWRITING FOR GIRLS For beginners and experienced songwriters. Explore the craft of songwriting with tips on lyrics, chords and song structure. Together we will write, arrange and perform an original song. Bring your ideas, your voice, instruments and amplifiers. Experienced Music Leaders Jane Harwood and Joanna Harvey will lead this inspirational workshop as an introduction to FROCK IDOLS, a new all-girl band and singing project starting in September. For ages 11-18. Refreshments available. FESTIVAL CLUB 1.30-3.30pm. £3 WALK: FROME'S HISTORIC PAST Guided tours with local experts around historic Frome, starting at the Round Tower and ending at Frome Museum, where local archive film can be seen and refreshments will be available. INTRODUCTION TO DJ-ING A hands-on introductory workshop into all aspects of DJ culture. Topics include: choosing the right equipment, digging, preparing for a party, mixing, battling, show techniques and scratching. In the second hour, everyone will get a chance to practise mixing and scratching. In the evening, participants are invited to try out techniques learnt at the workshop with their own records at the Free Decks DJ night in the Undercroft. Led by Will Angeloro. Ages 12-16 £3 FREE STYLE ART WALL In conjunction with the DJ workshop in the Undercroft, there’ll be a freestyle art jam performed on a 20ft x 8ft temporary wall. Come and create, be inspired, think BIG! The only limits are your imagination! Co-ordinated by Paul Boswell. UNDERCROFT, FESTIVAL CLUB 5-7pm.
Ages 12-16 £3 MACLAINE COLSTON, SAUL ROSE Beware! Highly skilled musicians at work. Two dulcimers and one melodeon playing like the genius performers they are. This trio notably includes two ex-members of the Kings of Calicutt, who have accompanied Eliza Carthy. Unfortunately they have to stop at ‘Kick off’ time to watch the Euro 2004 Cup Final, so don’t be late. GRIFFIN INN 5pm.

£10 (£8) RICHARD MEYRICK - PIANO Biking into town in his piano leathers, Richard Meyrick will set the keyboard alight with pianistic pyrotechnics, on a mission to fire everyone with enthusiasm for the range and depth of colour and sparkle on his chosen instrument. He has enlisted Beethoven, Prokofiev, Wagner and Saint Saens in his cause, and the absence of orchestral instruments is but a minor set back as arrangements by Liszt, Chiu, Flint and Horowitz aid the musical fireworks. CHRIST CHURCH 7.30pm.

the fattest bass sound around, and an extremely original fashion sense (check
the kilts and suits), this is the underground band even your granny would
