SOLABEAT ALLIANCE & SUPPORT

West-country bands Solabeat Alliance and B-Movie Heroes play the Cheese & Grain in a live music and film spectacular. Support acts include Underground Attic and Blasphemy, two of the best young bands in the area, with live animation sequences, band footage and crazy edits filling the two big screens. THE GLEN MILLER ORCHESTRA

Frome Festival 2004 - The Glen Miller OrchestraRay McVay leads the official Glenn Miller Orchestra featuring star musicians who have worked with the Orchestras of Benny Goodman, Nelson Riddle and Frank Sinatra. Performing the original arrangements of classic wartime chart toppers including ‘In the Mood’ and ‘Moonlight Serenade’ with music by Gershwin and Louis Armstrong complementing all the old Glenn Miller favourites, audiences of all ages will thrill to the sound of the Big Band.

LIQUID JAM MEETS THE LLAMA

Skilled guitarist Laurence Parnell joins poets Crysse Morrison and Hazel Stewart to create an enthralling fusion of words and music, supported by other talented local performers. This event will be recorded live by Will Angeloro of Handsome Llama Studios to produce the ensemble’s second CD.

THE CHOLMONDELEYS AND THE FEATHERSTONEHAUGHS WITH VICTIMS OF DEATH PRESENT

The previously all-female Cholmondeleys (pronounced Chumlees) become men and the traditionally male Featherstonehaughs (pronounced Fanshaws) are replaced by women. The companies present Flesh & Blood and Double Take – a compilation of witty choreographic gems from the Feathersonehaughs’ repertoire of contemporary dance, illuminated by Simon Corder’s extraordinary lighting and a haunting score performed live by composer Steve Blake and his band, Victims Of Death. Supported by Take Art! and Frome Festival.

"CECIL SHARP'S BIG NIGHT OUT"
THE MENDIP CENTENARY SINGERS

This centenary show follows Cecil Sharp collecting folk songs from the Mendips. As well as songs and dialogue, there will be foot-tapping local tunes and step-dancing. Come and see what packed local pubs a hundred years ago! Hear the songs sung at the Mid Somerset Festival held in Frome in 1904!

JELITARA FUTA & LAYE SOW (ACOUSTIC SET)

Frome Festival 2004 - Jelitara Futa & Laye SowA fabulous funky mix of Cuban Mambo, Reggae and African beats. Live and direct from Senegal, and back by popular demand. ‘Jelitara Futa’ means ‘it’s time to wake up’ and in literal terms this means get up and dance! Laye Sow, Jelitara Futa’s lead singer, will also be warming up the evening with his acoustic set. His songs address the aspirations and difficulties of the African people as well as political and religious issues. African food available in the Undercroft from 6pm.
