Jeremy will perform Thomas Pitfield’s Sonata for Xylophone, Three Designs for Three Timpani by Robert Muczinski, Battercada (based on samba drumming) and some fast and furious xylophone solos. Prior to this performance, Jeremy will hold an interactive concert introducing school children to the exciting world of percussion, demonstrating the weird and wonderful sounds he has been asked to produce for film and television. This walk will follow a route through the historic streets of Frome to discover pubs such as The King of Prussia, and will finish at The Griffin, where the brewers will give a talk on their craft at Milk Street Brewery. Four writers discuss their ideas and read from their published work: Helena Drysdale (novelist and travel writer); Keith Harrison-Broninski (musician and author); John Payne (writer and researcher); Jeremy Seal (travel writer and broadcaster). The creative sparks are sure to fly. The world premiere of James Hobley’s Dream Variations contrasts with Britten’s energetic and delightful orchestrations of Rossini’s Soirees Musicales and Bizet’s smouldering Suite No. 1 from Carmen. Longterm associates, their influences encompass jazz, world music and everything in between.
