A hands-on workshop where you can come and hear, play and talk about Hammond Organs and listen to the incredible New Digital Hammond B3 and Leslie tone cabinets. Also the smaller Hammond XK3 will be there showing its abilities beside its older brother. There will be plenty to see and hear, you can even buy one!

1pm Literary Lunch with Kate Pullinger

Kate Pullinger
Kate Pullinger’s books include the novels Weird Sister, The Last Time I Saw Jane, and Where Does Kissing End? and two short story collections; My Life as a Girl in a Men’s Prison and Tiny Lies. Her most recent novel is A Little Stranger. Kate also writes for film, television and digital media, and co-wrote the book of the film The Piano. Delicious two-course lunch.

1pm L’Entente Cordiale - Kevin Duggan, Organ

Comprising colourful music from France and England, this concert will conclude with a work that combines both countries – Louis Vierne’s sparkling Carillon de Westminster, built upon the chimes from Westminster Cathedral. There will be music that suits the rural surroundings of Berkley Church, and an improvisation on a pastoral theme.

2pm Inspired by Hoffnung

Witness a true spectacular involving musical drainpipes, toilets, saws, kitchen sinks and children, with a range of instruments not yet invented, but all inspired by the comic genius of Gerard Hoffnung. This performance is the culmination of extensive workshops and will be led by Jason Thornton and features instrument maker and performer extraordinaire, Nick Crump. Come expecting the unexpected.

If you would like the challenge of creating gymnastic pyramids & acrobatic tumbling skills, then this course is for you! Emily Barrett worked for three years in France at the Bing Bang, Ecole du Cirque, as a circus teacher. Please wear tracksuit/sensible clothing. Ages: 7–14yrs

Words @ Frome Festival and FILMFROME present a sizzling selection of hot local writers reading original material on the theme of ‘Heat’. This is followed by a screening of the classic British 1963 film Lord of the Flies, an adaptation of author William Golding’s dark tale of boys shipwrecked on a tropical island.

7.30pm Orchardleigh: A Phoenix from the Ashes

Bob Ladd, the Mendip Council Conservation Officer in the period when the Orchardleigh Estate was sold and broken up, will give an illustrated talk about the developments at Orchardleigh over the past 25 years. The present owner is attempting to return some of the glory to the house and grounds after a period of damage, neglect and landscape degradation.

Where does a good song come from? Performance and conversation in a relaxed and intimate setting, as four accomplished purveyors of the songwriter’s art share some of their secrets. Laurence Parnell introduces Jim Gallagher, Barbara J Hunt and Mo Robinson, with a guest appearance from Liquid Jam, featuring Frome poets Crysse Morrison and Hazel Stewart.
