Spare the writers, spoil the deadline!
The Frome Festival Short Story Competition is extending its deadline to June 16th:
'We always get a huge swell in entries just around the deadline for our competition, we also get a considerable number of disappointed writers who didn't quite make that deadline. This year we're trying to be as accommodating as possible. By adding two weeks to the deadline we hope it will give those precious extra few days to writers struggling to add the last touches to their stories,' says Alison Clink, driving force behind the competition.
There are a number of other Festival events designed to appeal to budding writers. On Saturday July 8th there's an afternoon of talks on the theme ‘Getting Published'. The festival is delighted to welcome four top London Literary agents who are offering one-to-ones with aspiring authors. There will also be a writing masterclass with literary agent Teresa Chris and author Debbie Holt. And for those short story writers who would like a personal assessment of their work, Alison Clink is running a writers' surgery on July 10th in Frome Library.
For more information on these and all the other events taking place as part of the Festival please refer to the Frome Festival 2006 brochure or call the box office on 01373 455420.
