Frome on Film Premiere
Eighteen months in the making, the Frome on Film community documentary premieres at the Merlin Theatre on Sunday 16 July. Launched at Frome Festival 2004, the lottery-funded film project set out to galvanise the community into making a documentary about their hometown.
Filmed entirely by Frome residents using their own ideas and stories, Frome on Film weaves together a diverse range of stories: babies and midwives, children and fathers, passionate food producers, dedicated instrument makers, teenagers, pensioners, even two happily liberated battery chickens!
The result is a personal, touching and surprising snapshot of Frome that will create a valuable archive for future generations and provide the impetus to create an ongoing record of the town in the 21st century. If the stories don't represent your experience of Frome, let us know. we might just lend you a camera.
The project was funded by Awards for All and FCC Media Arts, with support from filmfrome and Arturo Ltd.
