Vaughan Williams The Sea Symphony (plus Brahms Academic Festival Overture & Liszt Piano Concerto No.2 performed by international pianist Peter Donohoe.
Sung in English, The Sea Symphony is a magnificent work, both moving and dramatic, containing some of Vaughan Williams's greatest music This is a wonderful opportunity to perform this exciting piece, under expert tuition, meet old friends and make new ones and enjoy a really fun weekend - and, if you can join us, to perform two more concerts in our German Tour starting Monday 17 July. Tenors particularly welcome!
If you enjoyed the last four Summer Schools, you'll enjoy this - and to chance to sing The Sea Symphony, programmed with the Brahms - which has just a short vocal section - and the Liszt Piano Concerto No.2 played by one of the world's foremost concert pianists, makes this is an event not to be missed.
Jason Thornton - Conductor
Jason has worked with the London Mozart Players, City of London Sinfonia , Halle Orchestra, English Northern Philharmonia, The Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra and Bath Philharmonia. This summer he is conducting concerts in Frome Festival and Bath International Music Festival.
Jeffrey Skidmore - Chorus Master
One of the country's foremost choral conductors. Currently conducts ExCathedra of Birmingham , is frequently heard on BBC Radio 3 and has a wide experience of conducting and recording.
