Artists at Work Trail
Frome is well known for the number of artists and makers living and working both in the town and the surrounding villages. They came at first because the town had such character with the added bonus of affordability. They have stayed and attracted others because Frome is such a good place to live and work, and because of the sense of community that grows out of shared interests.
This year the Frome Festival has chosen to acknowledge and feature this talent on the doorstep by offering it a high profile in the visual arts programme. As well as an artist-curated exhibition of selected locally-based artists at Rook Lane Chapel, the Festival will also feature an 'Artists at Work' trail on the opening weekend (July 7 / 8), where visitors have a chance to see the range of contemporary art and craft practice going on in the houses, studios, warehouses and barns of Frome and its environs. Trail maps will be made available from Black Swan Arts and Rook Lane Chapel, as well as the Library, Tourist Information Centre and the Cheese and Grain.
If you are interested in opening your studio, or allowing visitors to see you at work at another site, click here to download an application form.
Or call the festival office on 01373 453889 or email: office@fromefestival.co.uk.
The deadline for applications is 20 April. Cost for taking part is £10, to cover production of the trail map. Inclusion will be limited to those living in Frome or within 5 miles of the town.
