Press Release:
Hunt on for 'Water's Edge' actors
Frome Festival, which this year runs from 6th to 15th July, is trying to contact a number of actors who starred in 'Water's Edge', a short film shot at Orchardleigh Estate, just outside Frome, in 1987.
The highlight of this year's filmfrome programme at the festival is a 20th anniversary screening of 'Water's Edge', which will be shown for the first time at its original location, and the festival hopes to reunite as many of the cast and crew as possible. The film's writer, Ashley Pharoah, co-creator of 'Life on Mars', will introduce the screening alongside its director, Suri Krishnamma, who has since gone on to direct films such as 'A Man of No Importance'. Dudley Sutton, best known as Tinker in 'Lovejoy' starred in 'Water's Edge' and has also been invited to the screening.
The search for the child actors involved in 'Water's Edge', undeniably the stars of this mysterious coming-of-age film, has already achieved some success. Leza Webb, who played the main character Lucy, will be attending the screening and hopes that the festival may be able to find her co-stars, Christie Harris, David Knight and Alan Mcdonald. All three were from the West Country, and the festival hopes that they, their families or friends might still be in the region and can pass on the details of the festival screening.
Nicki Grant of filmfrome, who are organising this screening for the Frome Festival, said, "We hope that we are able to reunite many of the cast and crew who came to the very special location of Orchardleigh twenty years ago to create what is a real gem of a film. The evening will also be a fantastic chance for film enthusiasts to catch a rare screening of the BAFTA-nominated film, at its original location and introduced by the writer and director."
The festival would love to hear from anyone who was involved in the film, or knows someone who was. Please call Nicki on 01373 453889 or email office@fromefestival.co.uk .
This special screening of 'Water's Edge' takes place at Orchardleigh House, near Frome, on Wednesday 11 July from 7.30pm. Tickets for the event can be purchased from the festival box office: 01373 455420. For more details on this or other Frome Festival events, see www.fromefestival.co.uk .
