| Sheila Chandra + Support | 19:30-20:30 Doors open 19:00 |
'In a musical world that seems constantly to be striving towards the lowest common denominator, the true artist stands out. And with the courage to follow her vision, wherever it takes her, Sheila Chandra is a true artist.'
Chris Nickon
The renowned pioneer of Asian-influenced World Fusion performs a rare solo one-off gig by candlelight. Her strongly melodic, ornate vocals and often lyric-less style began to emerge after her departure from eighties group Monsoon (with whom she had a top ten hit at age 16 with Ever so Lonely). Singing completely alone onstage with the occasional taped 'Drone' (a constant note) as her only accompaniment, she draws on the material found on her successful Real World trilogy of albums.
Support comes from Phil Harry, locally based sitar player.
