A LUNCHTIME CONCERT OF SACRED CHORAL MUSIC
This local chamber choir and instrumental ensemble, Christ Church Singers, make their Festival debut with a wonderful programme of beautiful classical choral works including Bach’s cantata Gottes Zeit(BWV 106) with recorders, strings and chamber organ, William Byrd’s glorious a cappella 4-part Mass, Sir Charles Villiers Stanford’s Three Latin Motets and John Ireland’s evocative anthem Greater Love.

BEGINNERS’ BALLROOM
Beginners’ Ballroom Workshop. Come to this ‘taster session’ and see for yourself how much enjoyment dancing generates. Rhythms to suit everyone. Good weight bearing exercise to music, plus interaction with other dancers. We hope to give you basic waltz, quickstep and maybe even jive steps by the end of the session. John Hegley is the judge of the EKO poetry competiton . The four prize winners will perform their winning poems and receive their prizes. John Hegley is a regular sell-out at The Edinburgh Festival and has performed at the Montreal Comedy Festival, the USA Comedy Festival in Aspen, with Ulrika Jonsson & Anita Dobson in The Pyjama Game and on BBC R4’s Hearing With Hegley. John is widely known as one of the country’s most innovative comic poets with several best-selling volumes of poetry to his name.

APPALACHIA - AN EXPLORATION
BATH PHIL & HARPETH RISING
A unique collaboration between the critically acclaimed Bath Phil and American folk band Harpeth Rising. You are warmly invited to join us for an all American hike along the 2000 miles of the Appalachian Mountains from the deep south to the far north- eastern states of the US. Witness hoe downs and Shaker ceremonies and hear tales of rural American life today. Both groups will interweave classic and contemporary pieces and songs from the region. Programme to include: Copland: Appalachian Spring and John Adams: Shaker Loops, interspersed with authentic American folk songs and improvisations from Harpeth Rising.

A TAKE ART AND MERLIN THEATRE DANCE EVENT
Drummer and dancer Darren Ellis duets with his sticks in his clever work Sticks and Bones, alongside Probe dancer Antonia Grove, who brings two new solos to the Merlin Theatre. Completing the bill is a sneak preview from Yorke Dance Project’s new work City Limitless, delving into the life and loves of Beat Generation writer Jack Kerouac. Flicks, Sticks and Kicks is a specially curated event for Frome Festival by Cath James, dance programmer for Take Art. Age 5+.
